Spravato (Esketamine) Treatment

• SPRAVATO™ is an FDA approved prescription medicine since 2019, used along with oral antidepressants, to treat: 

              - Treatment resistant depression (TRD) and 

              - Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) with Suicidal Ideation in adults. 

• Spravato must be administered at a REMS certified treatment center. 
• In almost all cases, Spravato is prescribed for patients who ave tried other types of medication and therapy without success.
• Because it is FDA-approved, some insurance companies may cover Spravato.

• TMS of MIAMI by Jahan Nasserzare M.D. offers Spravato as an in-office treatment. Before starting any treatment we will conduct a comprehensive evaluation to ensure that this is the best possible option for you. The prescription of Spravato will be given in one of two dosages: 56mg, or 84mg. 
• We will provide assistance in the administration of the nasal spray.

• Esketamine can trigger some initial and short-lived side effects such as dizziness, floating sensations, or mild hallucinations. You rest comfortably at TMS of MIAMI under the supervision of a member of the clinical team for approximately 2 hours. When your provider releases you, you will need a friend or family member to drive you home. You may be tired for the rest of the day, but any fatigue will pass by the time you wake up the next morning.

• Spravato could possibly be a good treatment option for you if conventional treatments for depression ave not relieved your symptoms, and you are in good physical health. 
• If you have a history of substance abuse, your provider may recommend an alternative such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).

SPRAVATO® is not for use as a medicine to prevent or relieve pain (anesthetic). It is not known if SPRAVATO® is safe or effective as an anesthetic medicine.
